This project included a logo design incorporating the three individual team member’s names and the design of a beer bottle. The team behind Barrakinmont had the idea that they wanted their product to visually look different from any other product currently in the market. At this moment in time beer brewing is very popular and the market is saturated with microbreweries trying to do the same thing, heavily relying on branding to achieve this. The team talked me through their experience of creating the beer itself and the variety of different and sometimes very delicate processes it has to go through to reach its final consumable stage. After all the time and planning goes into making the beer, if even a small part of the process is slightly incorrect the beer maybe be unusable. The team wanted to visualise the importance of the fermentation process. fermentation produces alcohol and carbon dioxide as yeast digests the sugar.
With the team’s ideas in mind, I started putting together the visuals, I began by going back to basics. Firstly, I concentrated on the bottle itself. Through research, I came to the conclusion that beer bottles are rarely ever white so this would obviously set their beer apart from competitors on the shelf. For the labels visuals, I wanted to visualise something almost scientific. I created some 3D bubbles over a grid, the bubbles magnifying and distorting the grid below. A reference to the creation of carbon dioxide during the brewing process. To complete this design, I experimented with the colours of the grid and background and how this affected the distortion within the bubbles. Ultimately, I decided to use two colours once again rarely associated with beer branding, magenta and cyan.
As previously stated this design is only early on in development but will be updated as and when the product moves forward.

Below are a few images used during the research part of the project, these images were used for inspiration. But also, (specifically the beer branding) to see how I could create a product visually different to its potential competitors.
